About Headshots

Headshots was founded in 1990 to supply a seemingly endless demand for rental equipment in Toronto catalogue and small product studios. Over the next 5 years, the business continued to grow and gain the confidence of the market, both clients and manufacturers. By 1996 we had added sizable inventories of film and instant proofing products, plus studio supplies. Our cornerstone belief in providing a delivery service to keep busy photographers from having to make the trip to us has been in place since 1990, and continues today.

Small and medium format digital has changed the Canadian photographic landscape in a major way, mostly positive, but has meant we need to keep rental stocks as current as possible with new models. This challenge is being met day in and day out, but continues to be focussed on brands and models that cater more to the professional than the weekend photographer. This is not to say that non-professionals do not find ample to choose from in our rental pool, but it is important for new clients to understand that we cater to the professional community with higher end professional calibre products. Lower end brand name cameras and lenses may not be found in our inventory, but for those looking for the rare treat of using something marginally above the average consumer model, we are happy to assist.

In early 2007, Headshots and Henry's joined forces to provide a unified objective and motivation to the Canadian photographic community. Headshots has always been and will always continue as an independent brand name working with the professional sector, while Henry's will continue to be the dominant photographic retailer to the discerning consumer and aspiring amateur. As of March 2008, Henry's has 25 retail locations in Ontario, making it the largest photographic specialty retailer in Canada, and just one year to go before it turns 100 years old!

Along with Headshots, Henrys acquired several related businesses that also call the professional sector home. Jones House, Digital Imaging Specialists is enjoying major growth as more and more professional clients, from photographers to agencies, experience what highly skilled and motivated perfectionists can do to an image. Working on campaigns that appear in retail and print locations around the world, Jones House brings the latest tools and skills to every premedia assignment the comes in. Another forward-thinking acquisition by Henry's was the addition of Digital Solutions to the team of Headshots and Jones House. Digital Solutions is the brainchild of Angus Pady, a leader in North American colour management standards and implementation. Angus brings with him a unique skill set of many years and thousands of hours of experience in managing both complex and simple colour translation challenges. It doesn't matter if you are a small independent studio with one or two printers, or a major Canadian magazine printer with hundreds of presses, the demand for colour that matches your visual intent is the same. As files move from one device to the next, the translation of colour needs to be understood and interpreted accurately in order the achieve the desired result. At Digital Solutions, Angus has been busy building a reputation that demonstrates his commitment in this area, and as part of the professional services group at 1122 Dundas Street East (Headshots and Jones House), he is ready and eager to work with you.
